Hello, and welcome to my website!
My name is Richard Lemarchand, and I’m a game designer interested in innovation and creativity, game storytelling, and games as art.
Between 2004 and 2012 I worked at Naughty Dog, creators of the award-winning Uncharted series, where I was the lead or the co-lead game designer of all three Uncharted games for the PlayStation 3. I had an amazing time working with the world-class developers at Naughty Dog on the development of a total of five different critically acclaimed, multimillion-selling projects.
I am now an associate professor in the USC Games program at the University of Southern California, where I teach game design, development, and production. I’ve also been working on a series of experimental virtual reality game design research projects as part of the USC Game Innovation Lab.
My book A Playful Production Process: For Game Designers (and Everyone) was published by the MIT Press in 2021.
I continue to work as a consultant to the game industry, so please feel free to contact me with inquiries at:

Yours in play, games, and design,
